Lenders will need to consider emissions data in 2024. Although only on the horizon, measuring and reporting on emissions impact of third-party equipment is critical and will be mandated by regulators and customers. Remember that bank and non-bank’s client’s 1 and 2 scope emissions become their scope 3 emissions. The panel discussed the move away from proxy-drive data to meaningful machine-level data measurement. Lending need to become more digital and data-driven.
